Yeah… No it Doesn’t

I’ve been seeing this image on Facebook.
The poster is cute and the message is inspiring. It’s not true, but did I mention the poster is cute?
Now, it’s not as bad as “Money is the root of all evil” or “God helps those who help themselves.” Those quotations are often attributed to the Bible and are simply not what the Bible says. What 1 Timothy 6:10 actually says is that the love (or lust) of money is a root of all kinds of evil. The evil comes as a result of people’s attitude toward money. The Bible does say Do Not Be Afraid. But the most occurrences I can find, of that exact quote, is 70 times in the NIV. The image does more than claim we should not be afraid, or that we are commanded to not fear. The whole purpose of the image is to claim that exact quote appears exactly 365 times, one for each day of the year. And that claim is bogus.
I’m not scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed correcting each person that shares this pic. I do growl (just a little, under my breath) each time I see it though. This pic demonstrates that 1) people will copy/share/repost anything and 2) Christians don’t know what their Bible says.
