Santa Alf

santalfThere’s no denying it; Alf was quite simply my favorite t.v. show from 1986-1989.  It first came on when I was in the 5th grade.  Both of my parents hated Alf; not the program, but him.  It was made very clear early on that imitating Alf’s obnoxious behavior would get his show shut down quickly in our home.

In 1987, during season two, NBC made a one hour Christmas special called Alf’s Special Christmas.  Through the magic of Hulu, I watched it again this afternoon.  I know t.v. sitcoms were a little cheesy in the 80’s, and Alf is a little dated.  It wasn’t exactly Masterpiece Theatre even back then.  But I still like it.  Teresa almost cried (and if you won’t tell anybody) I actually did.  Here’s a link.  The first time I heard about the editorial article Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus was watching this movie.  It’s one of those childhood memory things for me.    Merry Christmas
