You know how every other t.v. commercial for the past 6 months has been about the deadline to convert to digital? There are posters up at the Post Office if you don’t know about it. Which means you’re not watching television. Which means it really doesn’t matter if you get the converter box or not. Hmmm.
Congress approved backing up the deadline until June. Some 6.5 million homes aren’t ready yet, mostly poor, elderly and the disabled. What about the government coupons? That program ran out of money last month, with over a million people on the waiting list. The delay will give the government time to restore funding to the converter box program. Which I think begs the question: Why is the government paying people to watch television?
