South Korea Runs Out of Kimchi

Well, they haven’t “run out” of kimchi.  But the napa cabbage crop has been ruined by weather, and the price of a head has jumped from about $4 to $14.  One man resorted to stealing 10 heads of the cabbage directly from a field.  The solution?  South Korea is temporarily suspending their trade sanctions with China in order to import cabbage from them in order to stabilize the market.

FYI: Kimchi – cabbage combined with chili paste and other flavors which is then allowed to ferment.  Although many Americans do not, I happen to like kimchi.
