The USDA has introduced this new plate chart (for those of you that couldn’t follow the previous food pyramid). When the pyramid came out it was touted as illustrating portion management; smaller blocks near the top were foods that we need smaller amounts of, such as oils and fats, with large blocks at the bottom representing grains. The plate has fewer categories, color coding and a website link.
