Sally Ride, Dead at 61

I didn’t just recently become a nerd.  Back in 4th grade the NASA space shuttle program was one of my most favorite things.  I had a model of Discovery, and watched every shuttle take off and landing (back when each one was news and covered live).  Ronald Reagan was to the shuttle program what JFK had been to the Apollo missions.

Sally Ride, the first woman to go into space, passed away today at the age of 61.  She had been battling pancreatic cancer for some time.
