Monday, May 5 2014

This is day 125 of 2014. After today there are 240 days remaining.

Today is Cinco de Mayo, not to be confused with Mexican Independence Day.

On this date in 1904, Cy Young pitched a perfect game for Boston. (The team that would become the Red Sox had no official nickname until 1908; they were just the American League Team in Boston, sometimes called the Boston Americans, as opposed to the National League Team Boston Braves.)

Do you have a case of the Mondays? Try Happy Monday, a strange mix of scripture ref’s, inspirational quotes, comics, animal pics and today Batman.

Verse of the Day via Bible Gateway:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7 ESV

Who Gets the Credit by Jennifer Benson Schuldt is today’s devotion at Our Daily Bread.

Today is Yom Hazikaron, “Day of Remembrance” in Israel. The technical name is “Day of Remembrance for the Fallen Soldiers of Israel and Victims of Terrorism” but come on, it’s the official Memorial Day in Israel. Read more at ynet.
