This is day 127 of 2014. After today there are 238 days remaining in this year.

Verse of the Day via Bible Gateway

Rejoice always,  pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV

My Kind of People is today’s devotional via Our Daily Bread.

On this day in 1429 Joan of Arc ended the siege of Orleans, the turning point in the Hundred Years War.
– in 1992 the space shuttle Endeavor launched its first mission, STS-49.
– in 2000 Vladimir Putin was inaugurated president of Russia.

What if they invented an insect repellent 1,000 times more powerful than DEET? What if a product were sold for profit in the developed world and those profits were used to distribute the product freely in the developing world? And what if Vanderbilt University had already identified a compound called VUAA1 that repels every type of insect tested but so far has shown no toxic effects on humans? Just this once all your ifs are about to come true.

These day of the year posts are kind of boring. Infographics, that’s what we’ve been missing. The following animated GIF shows how the number of new planets being discovered recently made an exponential leap.
