On my 15th birthday my dad checked me out of school to take my written test and get my learner’s permit. I answered 19 out of 20 written questions correctly and identified 20 out of 20 road signs. He took me back to school afterwards; we did the same thing one year later. I’ve been a licensed driver since my 16th birthday. I would later take a class, written and road test for a CDL and shortly after that add a motorcycle endorsement.
That means I drive a lot. I drive my vehicle and my family. Other people have me drive them places in their vehicles. I drive for work, I drive for fun. I happen to think I’m rather good at it, but it is the validation of other people that make my point. On the 495 Capital Beltway my mother-in-law, who is afraid of driving on the Beltway, leaned forward and said “You drive like them.” So I said “Thank you.”
That was a compliment, right?
